Q. What services does the Insurance Planning department provide?
Insurance Planning provides employer and insurance plan review. This valuable service utilizes managed care to enhance or build practices with a need to add patients or revenue. Plan research is relative to existing plans a doctor may already be participating in, or new plans for those looking for new opportunities, adding an associate, or opening a new practice. Another valuable service is fee negotiation. Existing fee schedules are reviewed and renegotiated for increases in HMO guarantee reimbursements, and PPO maximum allowed charges.
Q. What does this do for the doctor?
By utilizing Insurance Planning services, a doctor has the opportunity to increase revenue, and new patient starts. This also ensures the doctor is participating with the most profitable payer mix, and staying competitive with the most current fees.
Q. What do you like best about what you do?
I thrive on the opportunity to fight battles with the insurance companies on behalf of our doctors to increase their profitability. One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is watching our practices grow and succeed. The key to my success is a direct result of relationships established with the carriers over the past 14 years.
Q. What is it most doctors don’t know about what you do?
Most doctors may not be aware that insurance plans should be reviewed demographically. All carriers may not have members in the practice area, thus enrollment into the plan would not benefit the practice. Plans should be reviewed at both a national and local level to determine what plans will bring the most value to their practice. Employers are also reviewed demographically to target specific insurance plans for additional opportunities. Insurance Planning notifies carriers of ownership changes, relocations, office consolidation, and new offices added.
